So your looking to get a tattoo? Well where does one start to look for a great tattoo artist any way? Well I would like to point you in the right direction.
First thing, ask people you know who have tattoo's. If you see an awesome tattoo on some one, ask them where they got the work done. Once you get a general idea of some good tattoo studios, go check them out.
Don't be afraid to ask questions either, If the person you are asking gets an attitude with you well that might not be the place to get your tattoo work done. But if the potential artist is willing to help you and takes the time to go the "extra mile" for you, that is the sign of a quality artist. Take the time to get to know who ever it is that will be tattooing you and it will be an even more pleasurable experience for you both.
Look at the studio too, is it clean. Lived in is good, but clutter and filth are bad. Are the artists clean and friendly. Or do they look like they just got done working on their car? You be the judge, it is your tattoo they will be doing.
Another important thing to do is look at an artist's portfolio, that way you will get an idea if you like the artist's style. If the artist says he left his portfolio at home or that he does not have one beacuse he has not bought a camera yet, that is not a good excuse, and I would caution any one getting work done by such a person.
